April 2017 - Amy Hofer and Anticipation at the April Square Dance

April 5th, 7-9 Old Time Jam, Led by Tony Goldenberg

Tony will start the jam teaching “Little Gal’ll Fool Ya”, a Roan Mountain Hilltoppers tune in the key of D and switching to the key of A and may play something in G. For those of us familiar with Tony’s excellent southern fiddling style this will be a real treat; rhythm, tone, cool tunes. What more could you ask for?

Players of all levels are welcome. $1 -$2 donation to help pay for heat. Bringing snacks to share is encouraged. Doors open at 6:45. Questions? Call Marla at 360-385-6924.

April 14th, Friday, 7:30 to 10:30 Square and Contra at Chimacum Grange

Square and contra dance this Friday at Chimacum Grange. The Wild Phil Band along with Tinker Cavallaro and Dave Thielk will be be rocking the dance groove, from 7:30 to 10:30. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS DANCE WILL GO TOWARDS VET BILLS INCURRED WHEN CHARLIE, THE GOOD DOG, BECAME ILL AND DIED LAST MONTH. Come out and support Becky and dance your feet off on Friday April 14.

April 15th, Saturday 7:30 to 11:00 - Contra Dance

1/2 hour lesson 7:30 to 8:00 !

Local wonders Kristin and Otto Smith and their band "The Boathouse Band" with Lori Bernstein on bass and others joining in to add to their incredible melodic and diverse music, will be playing for the dance 

Jay Finkelstein, a popular caller in the Seattle- Olympia contra dance community, is also a musician and avid dancer. His appreciation of the relationship between the music and the dances brings a clarity and ease to his calling... a good match to the smooth and flowing music of the the "Boathouse Band"  Admission $6, under 16 free

April 22nd, Saturday - Square Dance and Social with Amy Hofer, and The Anticipations

Note:  Unfortunately, Amy Hofer will be unable to come to Port Townsend for this dance. Dave Thielk will be the substitute caller for this dance.  

April showers bring - Earth day and more dance fun! Portland caller Amy Hofer, along with the the one night stand band, The Anticipations, are coming to Quimper Grange on April 22nd at 8 PM.  This is Amy's third visit to Quimper Grange. If you haven't danced squares with Amy, you haven't danced. The Anticipations include the musical and remarkable Bruce Reid (fiddle) and Bonnie Zahnow (guitar) from Seattle, and the vivacious and energetic Port Townsender, Jeanie Murphy (banjo).  Rumor has it that other musicians may join the band during the evening.

All dances are taught. All ages and experience levels are welcome. This a family friendly event.

Dancers are advised to bring their own personal water container. And, if inclined, they can bring some light snacks to share.

Dancing starts at 8 PM, but you can come at 7 PM and jam with the band. Adults $6. 16 and under free.
