Wild Phil and the Buffalo Gals at the Quimper Grange!

This month at the Grange!!! Wild Becky Evasick  will be fiddling for dancers with Amy Carroll calling contra dances on the Second Saturday of November.

Joining the band is Wild Phil (actually, Phil Andrus is the mildest mannered of the lot) and the other gals - Quenn Charrier on fiddle and Carol Sword on banjo.

Amy Carroll has been dancing as long as she can remember, but first took on the role of caller for squares, contras and international folk dances at a summer camp in the San Juans in the late 1980s.  She started contra dancing in the same era, when there were 3-4 contra dances available just in northeast Seattle, often all in a single week!  As an elementary school music teacher in Seattle, she has lots of experience working with groups of very diverse ages and skill levels.  The open and inclusive feel of the Seattle dance community is what originally drew her in, and she calls dances that continue that tradition.  She finds dancing and singing with other people to be the best form of community building around and is now helping build next generation of Seattle dancers in running the Seattle Family Dance.
